Golden Demon is Games Workshop’s premier miniature painting competition and is regarded highly around the globe. The competition has been held in Australia & New Zealand since 1999.

The style for Golden Demon 2007 was very simple with small amounts of infomation on a white background. The main image/icon for the competition was the trophy itself as it is a desired item for anyone who paints Games Workshop miniatures. The trophy is iconic and recognisable.

The colour palette for the promotional material was limited to blue, gold, silver and bronze, coming from the colours of the header plaque and the colours of the trophies. This all helped create a very clean and subtle style, relating directly to the idea of keeping the painting and assembly of a model tidy.

All in all, the purpose was to keep the focus solely on the quality of miniatues, especially in terms of displaying the winners at the end of the competition.

The trophy design, which I am most proud of was developed in conjuction with the technical expertise of the team at Metamorphis Laser Etching and Engraving. The result of the logo, going full circle and actually being cut out in plastic to resemble a sprue was a very exciting outcome.
